This is Michel's redemption moment. In 2018, his only Just for Laughs appearance was a one-minute set on the live taping of the Kill Tony podcast, where he was then roasted by host Tony Hinchcliffe and the panel. This year's performance represents a full return to the festival on his own terms.
Michel has been a fixture in Montreal's stand-up scene for eight years, co-hosting The World's Smallest Comedy Night every Monday at Hurley's Irish Pub on Crescent Street. He's also performed weekly showcases across the city. He said he's been honing material and testing new jokes at Hurley's for the better part of a decade.
