Quebec's food safety regulator has handed down $12,500 in combined fines against six Amir restaurant locations across the province over the past year, with three in the Montreal area. The violations, documented between November 2025 and October 2026, centered on temperature control failures and unsanitary premises.

The Sherbrooke location at 1105 Rue King Est faced the heaviest penalties, accumulating $5,500 across five separate fines—more than any other Amir in the province. Violations there included heat-sensitive products not cooled to 4°C or below (twice, with the second marked as a repeat offense at $2,000), hot perishable products not maintained at 60°C or above (twice), and a food handler not wearing a beard covering. Infractions dated back to October 2024, with the most recent occurring in July 2025.

In Griffintown, Montreal, Restaurant Amir at 1205 Rue Notre-Dame Ouest was fined $2,500 for two violations in the same category: premises not free of insects, rodents, and their droppings. Infractions dated to November 2024 and January 2025. The operator running the location at the time has since ceased operations.

Each Amir location is registered to a different numbered company under MAPAQ records. The regulator notes that the inspections cited did not necessarily take place recently—several months or more can pass between an infraction and official judgment publication as the legal process unfolds.

The violations reflect recurring patterns in the food service sector. In July 2026, HOC reported that Boucherie Française in LaSalle was hit with $5,000 in MAPAQ fines for pest and contaminant violations.
