The electric, impossible-to-categorize sound of Ca7riel & Paco Amoroso is heading to MTelus this Friday night. The Argentine exiles—childhood friends who grew up in Buenos Aires—are bringing their sophisticated electro hip-hop chaos to Montreal as part of their tour for the album Free Spirits, which Rolling Stone recently ranked among the best records of 2026 so far.
Ca7riel & Paco are known for defying genre boundaries, weaving together hip-hop, pop, harmonies that shouldn't work, and an almost cartoonish bravado that somehow feels urgent rather than silly. They met as children when a teacher mistook them for brothers (they share the same last name but are unrelated), and by pre-adolescence they were making music together. After building a following across Latin America with standout tracks like Mi Sombra and Ouke, their 2024 album Baño Maria caught international attention, leading to a viral appearance on the NPR Tiny Desk Concerts series.
For their Montreal set, expect the playful irreverence and genre collisions that have made them festival darlings across Europe, where their introspective yet impossibly catchy approach to music stands out even in avant-garde circles. The show starts at 9 p.m. Friday, June 25.
