Montreal vibrated to the rhythm of Quebec culture Wednesday evening as the annual Grand Spectacle de la Fête nationale drew thousands to Parc Maisonneuve for a concert featuring Quebec artists spanning generations. The theme, "De génération en génération" (From generation to generation), brought families together under enormous blue balloons floating above crowds dressed in fleur-de-lys colours.

Sonia Lapierre and John Fraser, longtime attendees of the Grand Spectacle, brought their daughters Fiona and Celia for the third consecutive year. "Je suis contente d'amener mes enfants ici pour célébrer le Québec," Lapierre said, explaining that she wanted her daughters to understand why they were there, dressed in Quebec colours and waving flags. John Fraser watched his girls from the grass—one on his lap, another climbing on his shoulders, both wearing Quebec flags behind their ears. "C'est un milieu qui est vraiment le fun avec ma famille," he said. "L'ambiance est vraiment cool."

Families arrived early in the afternoon to enjoy activities and artist rehearsals. By evening, Parc Maisonneuve was packed, with spectators equipped with flags, blue cowboy hats, and other fleur-de-lys accessories. Rose Guimond, attending for the first time, came for the artist lineup. "C'est le fun de s'habiller en conséquence de la célébration," she said. "Notre drapeau, on l'aime!"

The lineup included Quebec legends Guylaine Tremblay (hosting), Diane Dufresne, and Pierre Lapointe, alongside emerging artists like Émile Bourgault. Other performers included Souldia, Éléonore Lagacé, and this year's spokesperson, Pier-Luc Funk. The concert also paid tribute to Serge Fiori, the cofoundateur of the cult group Harmonium, who died on this date last year. The full Harmonium team was on stage for the tribute.

Rapper Souldia, in his second appearance at the Grand Spectacle, spoke about the energy backstage. "Les gens sont déchaînés," he said of the crowd waiting for artists to take the stage. "Ils sont arrivés tôt." He expressed pride in celebrating Quebec language, accent, and home alongside legendary musicians. "Je suis flatté d'avoir l'occasion de jouer aux côtés d'artistes légendaires… de côtoyer des légendes de la musique québécoise comme ça, ça ne peut que me rendre un humain meilleur."
