Hudson Village Theatre, nestled in a refurbished train station west of the island, is opening its 2026 summer season with The Rules of Playing Risk, a three-character comedy about family and vulnerability by Canadian playwright Kristen Da Silva. The show runs July 8–19.
Director Trevor Barrette, who helmed the theatre's beloved Bed and Breakfast last year, brings the play to Quebec for the first time. Matt Holland, Anne-Marie Saheb, and 15-year-old Ryan Hill star as an ex-firefighter, a nurse, and his teenage grandson navigating family secrets and unspoken feelings through a board game of Risk.
Barrette describes it as "a meaningful play built around comedy," one that explores vulnerability as the risk needed to build real connection. The intimate stage at Hudson Village enriches the play's heartfelt storytelling, which balances intergenerational clash with genuine affection between the three characters.
