Theatre is happening everywhere around Montreal this summer, with major productions opening across the Greater Montreal region.

At the Théâtre des Grands Chênes in Terrebonne, Steel Magnolias (called "Fleurs d'acier" in this French production) opens July 2 and runs through July 26, then moves to Rougemont's Théâtre de Rougemont from July 30 to August 29. The adaptation of Robert Harling's beloved comedy-drama has been translated and reset by Michel Tremblay, moving the action from a small Louisiana village to Iberville in the Montérégie. Director Alain Zouvi has assembled a strong cast including Josée Beaulieu, Flavie Bourgeois, Louise Cardinal, Louise Deschâtelets, Nathalie Mallette, and Myriam Poirier.

Also at Rougemont, "12 hommes en colère" (Twelve Angry Men) opens July 2 and runs through July 25. The 1957 Sidney Lumet film adaptation of Reginald Rose's courtroom drama comes to the stage under director Alain Zouvi, featuring Jean-Pierre Chartrand, Étienne Pilon, and Philippe Thibault-Denis.

Meanwhile, at the Lion d'Or in Montreal, the collective Drôle pour une fille performs "Menstruosités"—a desopilant cabaret celebrating the menstrual cycle through parody, musical comedy, game shows, and wrestling matches. The show opens July 2 and runs through August 20, with performances from Aurélie Fortin, Juliette Rolland-Apergis, and Marianne Verville, directed by Camille Massicotte.

At Terrebonne's parc Philippe-Villeneuve, the Théâtre de la LNI brings its touring comedy match June 30 at 7:30 p.m., with performances continuing across regional parks and venues through August 21.
