The long-promised Griffintown and Pointe-Saint-Charles REM stations are moving into the planning phase, with construction potentially beginning in 2028 and completion targeted for 2030.
CDPQ Infra unveiled the timeline Tuesday. The planning phase will include procurement processes and technical and environmental studies to minimize construction impacts on residents and existing REM service.
The Griffintown–Bernard-Landry station would serve the north side of the Lachine Canal, while the Bridge–Bonaventure station would serve the south side and support development of the Wellington Basin sector. Quebec's minister of transport and sustainable mobility, Benoit Charette, called the announcement "an important step toward providing the population with faster, more efficient, and sustainable transportation options." He noted that a REM station in a neighborhood has positive effects on both mobility and residents' quality of life.
