Longueuil police have identified a man suspected of stealing mail while disguised as a mail carrier, thanks to public assistance.

On March 30, the man was seen wearing a fluorescent yellow safety vest and carrying a bundle of flyers on Raoul Avenue in Saint-Hubert, giving the impression he worked for a mail delivery service. He was allegedly seen looking through mailboxes in the area.

At the time, residents recovered their mail from the man. However, an investigation later found that the stolen mail contained personal identification numbers (PINs) linked to TD Bank credit cards.

On Wednesday, the Longueuil police service (SPAL) posted on social media saying the man had been identified and that the investigation remains ongoing.
