A CN merchandise train derailed Sunday afternoon at the intersection of Le Bourg-Neuf Boulevard and Émile-Genest Street in Repentigny's Le Gardeur sector.
The City of Repentigny's emergency response teams, including firefighters and police, responded to the scene. Mayor Nicolas Dufour confirmed no injuries had been reported and stated that no information indicated hazardous materials were on the train.
Authorities implemented precautionary measures to secure the area quickly, including a power outage in the surrounding zone while crews worked at the derailment site.
