Montreal will repave Camillien-Houde Drive this summer to improve road conditions ahead of the UCI Road Cycling World Championships in September.
The work is aimed at reducing hazards posed by potholes for cyclists using the popular Mount Royal route. The Ville-Marie borough has awarded a $2.8-million contract for levelling and paving work on Camillien-Houde Drive, from Mount Royal Avenue to the summit near Beaver Lake.
The contract also includes resurfacing work on Notre-Dame Street East between Papineau Avenue and the eastern boundary of the Ville-Marie borough.
Construction is expected to begin at the end of June and be completed by August, well ahead of the international cycling competition. The UCI Road Cycling World Championships will bring elite cyclists from around the world to Montreal and other parts of the region in September.
The timing ensures the Mountain's iconic cycling climb is ready for the world's best riders.
