Montreal's parks department has launched self-guided audio tours and downloadable educational kits at two major green spaces, offering families and visitors new ways to explore local ecosystems.
At Cap-Saint-Jacques, a new audio guided tour explores Le Havre-aux-Tortues and its riverside ecosystems with five listening stations throughout the park. An admission fee applies for Le Havre-aux-Tortues during the summer season. Three downloadable educational kits—Giants of the Forest, Pollinators at Work, and Tracking Interactions (all in French)—offer interactive activities for families learning about the park's biodiversity. Tours begin at the parking lot of the welcome centre.
Bois-de-l'Île-Bizard features two audio guided tours: The Footbridges of the Marsh, a 30-minute contemplative walk with interpretive panels, and Val-Des-Bois, which offers a deep dive into the area's flourishing biodiversity. Three additional downloadable kits—Hidden Life in the Forest, The Living Marsh, and Stones Full of Stories (in French)—complement the experience. Starting points are marked on site at the welcome centre parking lot.
Both parks' welcome centres provide information and directions to begin the audio tours, making it easy for visitors of all ages to engage with Montreal's natural spaces on their own schedule.
