A jury in Dominica found two American men guilty on Tuesday in the murders of Quebec entrepreneur Daniel Langlois and his partner, Dominique Marchand, more than two years after the couple was discovered dead on the Caribbean island.
Jonathan Lehrer and Robert Snyder Jr. were convicted after a trial that began in late June. The jury deliberated for less than two hours before delivering its verdict at the Roseau courthouse. Sentencing has not yet been announced.
Langlois and Marchand were found dead in December 2023 inside a burned-out vehicle near Coulibri Ridge, the luxury eco-resort they owned and operated in Soufrière, overlooking the Caribbean Sea from the island's rugged cliffs.
Court documents showed that Langlois and Lehrer had been involved in a legal dispute over the use of a public road crossing Lehrer's neighbouring property. Lehrer pleaded not guilty to the murder charges following his arrest in late 2023.
A pioneer in the visual effects industry, Langlois had lived in Dominica with Marchand since 1997.
