A four-alarm fire broke out Friday morning in a residential building at the intersection of Dominion Street and Duvernay Road in Saint-Henri, affecting six units and drawing over 100 firefighters to the scene.
Montreal fire department (SIM) received the call at 11:52 a.m. The intervention was still underway at 1:30 p.m., with firefighters using a drone and maintaining heightened alert status. Power was cut to the area for safety reasons during the response.
No injuries were reported. Division Chief Émilie Barbeau-Charlebois said the cause of the fire remains undetermined. The scale of the response—a four-alarm designation indicates the severity—underscores the risk residential fires pose in older neighborhoods like Saint-Henri, where multi-unit buildings house dozens of families.
