Viger and Saint-Urbain face two-week lane closures for overpass work
Transport Quebec closes lanes May 24–June 6 for Saint-Urbain Street overpass rehabilitation over Route 136.
Transport Quebec has announced partial lane closures on Viger Avenue West and Saint-Urbain Street from May 24 to June 6 to allow rehabilitation of the Saint-Urbain Street overpass, which spans Route 136.
Starting at 10 p.m. on May 24, one lane will remain open on Viger Avenue West between Saint-Laurent Boulevard and Côté Street through 5 a.m. on June 6. During the same period, one lane will remain open on Saint-Urbain Street between De la Gauchetière Street West and Viger Avenue.
Commuters should anticipate slower traffic and longer travel times through downtown, particularly during peak hours. The two-week window covers the period immediately after Grand Prix weekend, when downtown traffic is already expected to be congested. Alternative routes through adjacent streets are advisable; transit users should check STM alerts for any service adjustments.
