Hockey Night in Canada returns with PWHL games starting Dec. 5
CBC has partnered with the Professional Women's Hockey League to revive the iconic Saturday-night broadcast, offering free coverage across Canada.

Hockey Night in Canada is returning to CBC this season with a new partnership featuring the Professional Women's Hockey League.
The first PWHL game on the revived broadcast will air Saturday, Dec. 5, showcasing Montreal Victoire visiting PWHL Hamilton. CBC will carry eight Saturday primetime PWHL games throughout the season, with pre- and post-game panel analysis and digital content on CBCSports.ca and social media.
The PWHL is launching its second season in late November or early December and now operates teams across North America, including four expansion franchises: Detroit, Las Vegas, San Jose, and Hamilton. Each HNIC game will feature a Canadian-based team.
CBC retained the Hockey Night in Canada trademark after ending its run covering NHL games earlier this year. In June, CBC and Rogers Sportsnet announced they could not reach a sublicensing deal for continued NHL broadcasts, marking a significant change for Canadians seeking free ways to watch NHL games on television.

The full PWHL season schedule will be unveiled Friday, Sept. 29.
