Major repairs to the Honoré-Mercier Bridge concrete deck are complete as of August 1, and all traffic lanes have reopened in both directions.
Since July 17, the bridge had been reduced to a single lane per direction toward the South Shore, with the Airlie Street entrance also closed. The intensive work finished ahead of the initially planned schedule. Truck restrictions that had barred vehicles with three axles or more from Monday through Friday during rush hours are now lifted.
The ministry, working with Mobilité Montréal partners, deployed transit and traffic measures to cushion the disruption during the two-week closure. Additional repairs to the concrete and steel, along with structural repainting, will continue throughout the year but are expected to require only shorter, periodic closures.
One exception: a single lane in the central section toward the South Shore will close from Friday, July 31 at 11 p.m. through Monday, August 3 at 5 a.m. for work by Ponts Jacques Cartier et Champlain. Further closures will be announced as schedules are finalized.
