The Honoré Mercier Bridge will operate at reduced capacity for more than two weeks starting mid-July as the Quebec Ministry of Transport completes concrete repairs.
From Friday, July 17, at 11 p.m. to Monday, August 3, at 5 a.m., only one lane will be open in each direction on the bridge between Montreal and the South Shore. The entrance and reserved lane from Airlie Street will also close during this period.
The closure is necessary to repair part of the upstream bridge's concrete slab. Congestion is expected, and the ministry recommends drivers allow extra time, especially for airport trips.
To manage disruptions, transit and traffic measures include extended hours for the Highway 138 eastbound reserved lane (5 a.m. to 8 p.m., seven days a week), adjusted exo bus schedules for the Haut-Saint-Laurent and Sud-Ouest sectors, and traffic bans on trucks with three or more axles during peak hours. The Victoria Bridge will see modified traffic management to help distribute flow. Drivers should check Quebec 511 before traveling and can download the Quebec 511 app for real-time alerts.
