Montreal police are investigating after a gunshot woke residents in Saint-Leonard early Friday morning, Aug. 1.
SPVM received a 911 call shortly before 1 a.m. reporting gunshots near the intersection of Liénart and La Dauversière streets. When officers arrived, they found no victims or suspects, but located a shell casing at the scene.
"According to initial reports, the gunshot may possibly have been fired from a moving vehicle that fled the scene before police arrived," said SPVM spokesperson Caroline Chèvrefils.
Investigators have established a security perimeter and are reviewing surveillance camera footage from the area. No arrests have been made. The investigation is ongoing. Police are asking anyone with information to contact them.
This marks the latest gunshot incident in the city. HighOnCity reported in recent months on shootings in Marlborough, Chinatown, and between vehicles on Merivale Road that injured a person.
