A fire at a two-storey residential building in Montreal's Parc-Extension neighbourhood early Wednesday morning sent three men to hospital and displaced about 30 tenants. Montreal fire department received a 911 call around 2:30 a.m. reporting a sound of explosion on Saint-Roch Street near de l'Épée Avenue.

More than 100 firefighters responded to the scene. Three men were hospitalized with various injuries, though their lives are not considered in danger. The Canadian Red Cross assisted the approximately 30 tenants who were evacuated.

The cause of the fire remains unknown, and an investigation is ongoing. No timeline has been provided for determining what sparked the blaze.

This is the latest in a series of fires across the city. In June, HOC covered a fire evacuation on Avenue du Parc and a fatal apartment fire in St-Michel that killed two people.
