Quebec residents harmed by a listeria outbreak linked to Silk and Great Value plant-based beverages can now file claims against a $7.5 million class action settlement.
The Superior Court of Quebec approved the settlement on April 17, 2026. The claims period opened June 19 and runs until October 16, 2026. The settlement covers anyone in Canada who purchased or consumed the recalled products during summer 2024 and experienced illness as a result.
The outbreak in July 2024 killed three people, hospitalized roughly 15, and caused serious illness in 20 cases across Canada. The CFIA recalled dozens of almond, oat, and coconut beverages from stores and Walmart nationwide on July 8, 2024. The lawsuit named Danone Canada, Walmart Canada, and Intact Insurance as defendants; they deny allegations but agreed to settle.
Compensation ranges from $400 for symptoms lasting up to 48 hours (nausea, fever, diarrhea) to up to $300,000 for deaths. Hospitalization without serious complications pays up to $30,000 ($10,000 base plus $900 per day of hospitalization). Family members living with a primary claimant may also qualify for additional compensation at more severe levels.
To file, submit a complete claim package to Services Concilia Inc. by October 16, 2026. Most claims require a proof of purchase, saved packaging, or a signed declaration of purchase and consumption. More serious claims need supporting medical or pharmaceutical records. File online at PlantBeverages-Settlement.com.
