Projet Montréal is calling on the City of Montreal to suspend its institutional ties with the government of Israel until it withdraws from Gaza.

The opposition party plans to present a motion to city council on June 15 expressing solidarity with the Palestinian people. In a statement, Projet demands that Montreal "recognize and denounce the apartheid regime in Palestine and the genocide being perpetrated there, and affirm solidarity with Palestinians and other civilian victims of hostilities in the Middle East."

The motion represents an escalation of the party's position on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and signals a hardening stance on the issue as the city council prepares for debate on the question.
