Quebec coroner investigating two drownings in Montreal's Lachine Canal
Two men in their early 20s died after one fell into the canal near René-Lévesque Park late Saturday. Emergency crews say the second entered the water to help.

Quebec's coroner's office is investigating after two men drowned in Montreal's Lachine Canal late Saturday night near René-Lévesque Park.
Emergency services were called shortly before midnight. Montreal's fire department and the Canadian Coast Guard conducted a joint search using three boats. Both men were pulled from the water, and six paramedics from Urgences-santé provided medical intervention at the scene.
According to Urgences-santé spokesman Steve Macduff, both victims were men in their early 20s. Montreal's fire department said it appears one person had fallen into the canal and a second entered the water in an attempt to help.
Both were taken to hospital, but the coroner's office confirmed they have since died. An investigation will be conducted "to determine the causes and circumstances surrounding these deaths."
