With Canada Day falling on Wednesday, July 1, most government services, stores, and transit will run on modified schedules across Montreal.

Grocery stores will mostly be open with variable hours. Montreal's public markets — Atwater, Jean-Talon, and Maisonneuve — will be open with possible reduced hours. Garbage, recycling, and compost collections run as usual. Ecocentres operate on their summer schedule.

Espace pour la Vie museums, including the Biodôme, Biosphère, Botanical Garden, Insectarium, and Planetarium, are all open. Check the Espace pour la Vie website ahead of your visit.

STM buses and metro will run on a holiday schedule. EXO buses run Saturday hours while trains run Sunday hours. The city's 311 line operates 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Most SAQ and SQDC locations will be closed — stock up Tuesday if you're planning anything. Shopping malls and big-box retailers will be closed. Banks and government offices are shut. Canada Post has no mail delivery or pickup, though some private postal counters in pharmacies may open.

It's also Moving Day for much of Quebec, so expect extra traffic.
