The Young Bar of Montreal is holding its 47th Telephone Legal Clinic, offering free legal advice to Quebec residents who need it. The clinic runs on Friday and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
More than 100 volunteer lawyers will handle calls covering employment law, housing, immigration, family law, estates, criminal justice and other legal matters. The service is free and anonymous. To reach a lawyer, call 1-844-779-6232.
The clinic aims to make justice accessible at a time when the rising cost of living has strained household budgets and eligibility for legal aid remains limited for many.
"Behind every legal question is a person seeking to understand their rights and the options available to them," Jeanne Gagné, president of the Young Bar of Montreal, said in a statement.
Marcel-Olivier Nadeau, President of the Bar of Quebec, added: "Understanding one's rights is the first step in asserting them, and this is precisely what the Young Bar of Montreal's Telephone Legal Clinic has been putting into practice for 47 editions."
The clinic is open to all Quebec residents seeking legal guidance, regardless of income.
