ALERT and Wood Buffalo RCMP arrested two men in Fort McMurray after a months-long drug investigation culminated in raids on two homes, a storage facility, and three vehicles on June 11.

Officers seized just under $100,000 worth of drugs: 915 grams of cocaine, 27 grams of methamphetamine, and varying smaller amounts of other substances. Three firearms were also recovered, one of which was prohibited; all three had ammunition.

Matthew Berkshire, 34, and Dylan Hurley, 36, face multiple serious charges including possession of drugs for the purpose of trafficking and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose. Hurley faces additional firearms-related offences and was allegedly on a release order at the time of arrest.

Police also confiscated $4,165 in cash. Berkshire has been released from custody and is set to appear in court on July 14, 2026; Hurley appeared on June 30, 2026. ALERT Staff Sergeant Mark Wait said the bust reflects the commitment between ALERT and Wood Buffalo RCMP to keep "drugs and guns off the street."
