Lauren Cauchy and Christina Muehlberger have built a show on one simple premise: moms are hilarious, and they deserve more respect than their punchlines get.
"Mom Jokes", running at Atelier Theatre through June 27, is a 40-minute celebration of parenting that mines the humbling, exhausting, endlessly funny realities of raising kids. Cauchy and Muehlberger dive into everyday moments—the chaos, the milestones, the routines—and transform them into comedy gold.
The pair's chemistry is effortless and warm. Their friendship shines throughout, making every exchange feel authentic. They play off each other beautifully, their timing elevating a strong collection of jokes with a kind of humour that feels welcoming even while it lands hard. One standout moment is an absolutely hilarious sock-puppet circle time segment that had the audience giggling uncontrollably.
The set design—a cosy playroom with a nostalgia-fuelled TV on a stand—perfectly matched the show's theme. They shared insights into how mothers are portrayed in media and included videos of fellow moms reflecting on their own experiences, grounding the comedy in something real.
What emerges is a joyful celebration of parenting and mom appreciation that delivers plenty of laughs while reminding audiences that sometimes the best stories come from the most chaotic moments of family life.
