Chamberfest celebrates emerging artist Nathaniel Mears at free midday performance

Percussionist Nathaniel Mears, the 2026 Nicole Senécal Emerging Artist, will perform a free lunchtime concert at the National Arts Centre's O'Brien Atrium on Tuesday, July 28, from noon to 1 p.m.
Mears recently completed his Master's of Music at the University of Ottawa and was named Principal Percussionist of the Saskatoon Symphony Orchestra in November 2025. The Nicole Senécal Emerging Artist Award honours an outstanding graduating student from the University of Ottawa's School of Music poised for a professional career. The award includes a $10,000 scholarship established by Nicole Senécal to honour her parents, as well as a debut recital at Ottawa Chamberfest.
The performance is part of the Atrium Series, free midday concerts designed to offer music lovers a break during the workday. Attendees are invited to bring their meal and grab a spot—the concert runs approximately 45 minutes with no intermission.
