One person hospitalized after vehicle-train collision in Barrhaven

One person was transported to hospital in stable condition Sunday afternoon after a vehicle collided with a train at the Fallowfield Road railway crossing in Barrhaven.
Ottawa Fire Services responded around 3:30 p.m. to reports of the collision near Fallowfield Train Station. Firefighters arrived three minutes after dispatch and found the vehicle heavily damaged approximately 75 feet from the point of impact. The lone occupant was trapped inside the vehicle and was safely freed at 3:40 p.m.
Ottawa Paramedic Service treated the patient on scene and determined they were in stable condition, according to paramedics commander of operations Kevin Montgomery. No train passengers were injured.
The Transportation Safety Board of Canada, Transport Canada, and Ottawa Police will handle the investigation. Via Rail did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
