Firefighters free passenger trapped in vehicle after east-end collision
A passenger was extricated and sent to hospital after a crash at Montreal Road and St. Laurent Boulevard early Tuesday. The driver was uninjured.

Firefighters rescued a passenger trapped inside a vehicle after a collision at Montreal Road and St. Laurent Boulevard early Tuesday, July 7 around 1:24 a.m.
Ottawa police called crews to the intersection where they found a vehicle with heavy front-end damage facing westbound in the eastbound lanes of Montreal Road. The driver had exited the vehicle uninjured, but the passenger was stuck inside.
Firefighters stabilized the vehicle using cribbing and disconnected the battery before beginning extrication. One firefighter entered the vehicle to provide first aid and stabilize the passenger's spine during removal. Using specialized tools, crews removed both passenger-side doors and a post between the front doors.
The passenger was removed by 1:42 a.m. and was sent to hospital in an ambulance. Before leaving the scene, firefighters spread absorbent on leaking fluids before Ottawa police took over.
