Ottawa Fire Services tamed a large fire that swept through multiple buildings in rural south Ottawa early Thursday morning.

At about 12:45 a.m., a 911 caller reported a barn and nearby structures ablaze south of Metcalfe on Eighth Line Road — an area with no fire hydrants. Firefighters faced heavy flames, collapsing structures, exposed hydro wires, and a fuel tank as they worked to contain the blaze. The fire came under control just after 2 a.m.

Fire Services set up a "fire watch" truck to monitor the area afterward. An investigator was dispatched to determine the cause and origin.

No injuries were reported. The cause remains under investigation.
