One firefighter suffered a minor injury Wednesday as Ottawa Fire Services worked to contain a blaze in the 6000 block of Castle Pines Way in Orléans-South-Navan ward.

Calls came in around 4:46 p.m. reporting flames visible through the roof of a single-family home and melting siding on a neighbouring property. Firefighters confirmed flames shooting through the roof and possible exposure to adjacent homes, prompting an immediate second alarm.

The fire was declared under control at 6:42 p.m., nearly two hours after the initial calls. Two full searches of the home found no occupants inside. A fire investigator was sent to determine the cause and origin.
