Firefighters brought a house fire in the Kinburn community under control Monday evening after arriving to find the structure fully involved.

The two-storey home at 1800 Diamondview Road in Ottawa's west end was ablaze when crews arrived at 5:44 p.m. Heavy smoke and flames were pouring from the attached garage after multiple people called emergency responders. All occupants, including pets, were safely outside when firefighters arrived.

Crew members established a hose line while bringing in water from an outside source, as there are no hydrants in this part of the city. Propane tanks beside the home posed an additional hazard as crews sprayed water from the sides and air.

The fire was under control just before 7:00 p.m. Victim services were dispatched to the scene and a fire investigator is examining the cause of the blaze.
