Ottawa firefighters responded to a two-alarm fire at two homes near Mooney's Bay early Tuesday, July 21, at approximately 4:19 a.m.
Multiple 911 calls reported a house on fire in the 2700 block of Flannery Drive. When crews arrived, they found a single-storey, single-family home fully engulfed in smoke and flames, with the fire already spreading to the roof of a neighbouring home. A second alarm was declared to dispatch additional resources.
By 4:40 a.m., one of the homes had partially collapsed, creating dangerous conditions. Firefighters were ordered out of the building. When deemed safer to re-enter, crews conducted a thorough search and found no occupants inside either home.
The fire was declared under control at 5:11 a.m. A fire investigator was sent to the scene to determine the cause and origin of the fire.
