The Goulbourn Museum held its annual Volunteer and Contributor Awards on June 19, recognizing the enthusiasm and dedication of volunteers who have given countless hours to preserve and share local history.
The outdoor celebration brought together a large community under a tent and by a bonfire, all united by a shared love of local history and the museum. The evening featured displays, an interactive photo booth, homemade refreshments, lawn games for all ages, balloon art by Skye the Guy, and a special performance.
Four volunteers received recognition for their contributions:
Annette Lindsay earned the Community Engagement Award, honoring volunteers who foster strong connections between the museum and the wider community through outreach and public programming. Lindsay's warmth, enthusiasm, and welcoming nature help create positive experiences for everyone she meets, making her a wonderful ambassador for the museum.
Richard Driffin received the Heritage Champion Award for exceptional commitment to preserving Goulbourn's local history through research, collections, and interpretation. For more than a decade, he has shared his passion for local history through workshops, outreach activities, and his much-loved Letters to Santa, bringing history to life and inspiring curiosity and community connection.
Zoe and Jamie Flanders were jointly recognized with the Youth Leadership Award, given to volunteers under 25 who demonstrate initiative, creativity, and leadership. Both have grown up as part of the museum community and have become two of its most reliable, enthusiastic, and supportive volunteers, whether assisting with events, helping visitors, or creating memorable experiences as Santa's elves.
Jennifer Rowland received the Behind-the-Scenes Star Award, which honours volunteers providing essential but often unseen support through leadership, administration, and organizational stewardship. Rowland has made an extraordinary impact through her service as a volunteer, Board member, and Chairperson, offering constant positivity, encouragement, wisdom, and support.
