The Welcome to Stittsville Multicultural Festival returned for its fifth year on June 20, drawing a large crowd of residents old and new. Hosted by Councillor Gower and a team of organizers and volunteers, the event served as an inclusive space for intercultural understanding and community building.
The afternoon featured food trucks offering a range of cuisines, live music and dance performances with performers wearing traditional attire, and local artists on display. Cultural organizations staffed tables to engage with attendees and share their work. Many of Stittsville's service organizations participated, and attendees could learn more about community associations.
The Ottawa Public Library Bookmobile was on site offering tours with staff members Gemini and Crystal. Community businesses and sponsors provided prizes throughout the afternoon.
The festival brought together people from various ethnic backgrounds to share and appreciate each other's traditions, food, music, and art. For both newcomers and long-time locals, the afternoon was an enriching experience celebrating multiculturalism in Stittsville.
