Ottawa-based developer Richcraft Homes is proposing to build a subdivision with more than 2,000 residential units on vacant land off Innes Road in Orleans.

The 64-hectare site, located between Innes Road and Brian Coburn Boulevard just south of a strip of commercial properties including restaurants, stores, and a Landmark Cinemas location, would feature approximately 35 hectares of residential area, 19 hectares of employment space, and five hectares of parkland.

The subdivision would include more than 1,100 low-density units comprising detached homes and townhouses, plus two "high-density blocks" with approximately 504 residential units positioned near a future rapid transit station. The site's employment areas would concentrate between Frank Bender Street and Mer Bleue Road, with potential for transit-supportive uses like multi-storey office buildings as the BRT Transitway develops.

Three parks are proposed, including a 3.9-hectare community park featuring a baseball diamond, skateboard area, multi-purpose court, and splash pad. The developer also plans an "active mobility network" combining sidewalks, walkway blocks, multi-use pathways, and recreational trails.

Orleans has seen multiple major residential projects in the pipeline in recent years, signalling continued growth in the eastern suburb.
