Thousands of soccer fans packed LeBreton Flats Park on Saturday afternoon to watch Canada's historic World Cup run come to an end. Morocco defeated Canada 3–0 in the Round of 16—the furthest the Canadian men's team has ever advanced in the tournament.

The free watch party was hosted by Heritage Canada in partnership with the City of Ottawa. Canada entered ranked No. 30 in the world while Morocco was No. 6, but after a scoreless first half, hope lingered for an upset. That hope faded in the second half as Morocco scored in the 50th and 82nd minutes before adding another goal in stoppage time.

The crowd, which gathered to witness history, saw instead a defeat—but one that marked the nation's deepest World Cup run to date.
