A man in his 20s died in a head-on collision on Fallowfield Road early Wednesday morning, and a second driver was taken to hospital in critical condition.
Emergency crews responded to the crash around 12:40 a.m. on Wednesday, September 9, just west of Old Richmond Road. One vehicle caught fire. The deceased driver was pronounced dead at the scene. The second driver, a man in his 30s, was stabilized by paramedics and transferred to hospital, where Marc-Antoine Deschamps, Ottawa Paramedic Service spokesperson, said the man's injuries were critical but not life-threatening.
Fallowfield Road was closed between Old Richmond and Eagleson roads during the investigation. The intersection of Fallowfield and Old Richmond reopened by late morning.
Ottawa Police Fatal Collision Investigation Unit is asking anyone who witnessed the crash or has video evidence to contact them at 613-236-1222, extension 2345. The cause of the collision has not been determined.
