One pedestrian is dead and another remains in critical condition following two separate collisions in Gatineau over the weekend.
On Sunday, Sept. 13, just before 8 p.m., a 75-year-old woman was struck by a vehicle on Gréber Boulevard, between Chemin de la Savane and Louis-Riel Street. She was transported to hospital by Gatineau paramedics and pronounced dead. The driver was treated by paramedics for shock. Gatineau police continue investigating; no charges have been laid.
On Saturday, Sept. 14, just after 9 a.m., a 64-year-old Gatineau woman was struck by a vehicle on Boulevard de l'Hôpital. She was taken to hospital with serious injuries and remained in critical condition as of Monday, Sept. 14. The driver was issued a ticket for "entering the public highway without ensuring that there was no danger." Gatineau police continue investigating both incidents.
HighOnCity reported similar collisions in recent months: in June, two collisions resulted in one death and another critical injury; in September, another fatal head-on crash occurred on Fallowfield Road; and on Sept. 13, a major collision at Rideau and King Edward left injuries.
