The westbound Lyon Street on-ramp to Highway 417 is officially open again, ending a closure that stretched far longer than originally promised.
The City of Ottawa first announced in August 2021 that the ramp would close for more than four years, with reopening set for November 2025. But delays persisted. In June 2026, the city said the on-ramp would stay closed until July 31 as the Ontario Ministry of Transportation replaced noise barriers along the eastbound section between Carling and Rochester. The MTO then cited additional geotechnical investigations needed in the work area.
On August 6, the MTO confirmed the work was complete and the ramp had reopened. The closure was part of the broader midtown bridge replacement project.
Other closures remain in effect as work continues on the noise-barrier wall replacement. The eastbound lane between Carling and Rochester is still closed, with a reduced speed limit of 80 km/h in that area.
