A 22-year-old Ottawa man has been charged with possession and accessing child sexual abuse materials, police said Wednesday.

The investigation began in May after a report of someone sharing child sexual abuse and exploitation materials online. On Tuesday, Ottawa police's Internet Child Exploitation (ICE) unit executed a search warrant at a residence in the city's south end and arrested Mattias Chicoine.

Chicoine appeared in court Wednesday. The investigation is ongoing.
