Pedestrian struck on Highway 417 in critical condition
Provincial police search for transport truck driver who may have witnessed early-morning crash near Bronson Avenue.
A pedestrian was found in critical condition on Highway 417 early Friday morning after a two-vehicle collision near Bronson Avenue, prompting Ontario Provincial Police to launch an appeal for witnesses.
Officers responded around 3 a.m. to a crash involving two vehicles in the westbound lanes. During their investigation, they discovered the pedestrian in the eastbound lanes with life-threatening injuries. Emergency responders transported the victim to hospital.
Police are specifically seeking the driver of a transport truck who may have seen either the crash itself or the injured pedestrian on the highway. Anyone with information about the incident is urged to contact OPP or Crime Stoppers.
The crash underscores the dangers of overnight highway travel on one of the city's busiest commuter corridors. Weekend commuters should expect possible delays as investigators continue their work.
