The Ottawa Senators beat the San Jose Sharks 5-1 on Saturday at SAP Center, improving their record to 9-5-1. Samuel Ersson made 22 saves for his first win with the club.

Phil Tomasino was recalled from Belleville on Friday and played 12:20. He had four shot attempts, stripped Dmitry Orlov at the San Jose blue line, and created a chance with a stick check on Ivan Stenberg that led to Batherson's 2-1 goal. Batherson's wrister, glove side past Alex Nedeljkovic, was his ninth of the season in 15 games.

Tim Stützle had two points, including a saucer pass to Dylan Cozens for the opening goal and his own goal for 3-1. Cozens had two points, his fourth goal in four games. Shane Pinto, Jake Sanderson and Ridly Greig also contributed.

The Senators lost to the Los Angeles Kings earlier in the week.
