Shepherds of Good Hope's annual Taste for Hope returned to the Brookstreet Hotel on June 3, drawing supporters for an evening of food, fundraising, and friendly culinary competition.

Co-chaired by Shawn Hamilton of Proveras Commercial Realty and Susan Margles of the Ottawa International Airport Authority, the sold-out event featured dishes prepared by some of Ottawa's top chefs, alongside a live auction benefiting the organization's programs and services.

The evening's highlight was the return of the Culinary Clash, a competition where local business leaders — Julie Findlay, Louis Lacombe-Denis, Michel Nungisa, and Kathryn Tremblay — worked within a limited budget to create dishes for judges Soula Burrell, Jenny Chen, and Philippe Laplante. Chef Joe Thottungal of Coconut Lagoon and Thali guided competitors through the challenge.

The event raised more than $437,000, bringing together the city's food community and business leaders to support a charity serving Ottawa's vulnerable population. Shepherds of Good Hope operates programs addressing homelessness, poverty, and food insecurity — making nights like this one tangible.

The Taste for Hope has become a fixture on the Ottawa gala calendar, blending the city's culinary talent with philanthropy.
