Cineplex Inc. reported a loss of $22.4 million in its first quarter ended March 31, a significant improvement from a loss of $36.6 million in the same period a year earlier. The loss amounted to 36 cents per diluted share, compared with 58 cents per diluted share in the prior year.
Revenue totalled $291.0 million for the quarter, up 16 per cent from $251.7 million in the first quarter of 2025. The growth was driven by increased theatre attendance and higher spending per patron across both box office and concession categories.
Theatre attendance amounted to 9.8 million patrons in Q1 2026, up from 8.4 million a year earlier. Box office revenue per patron rose to $12.94 from $12.14, while concession revenue per patron increased to $9.54 from $9.13.
