After 19 years covering Toronto City Hall, veteran reporter Natalie Johnson is running for the council seat vacated by Brad Bradford's mayoral bid.

Longtime CTV News reporter Natalie Johnson is announcing her candidacy for Toronto City Council in the Beaches–East York riding on Monday morning. Johnson, who has spent 19 years in the CTV newsroom and has covered Toronto City Hall since 2010, will make the announcement at the Toronto City Hall Elections Office at 10:30 a.m..

Johnson is a resident of Beaches–East York and mother of three. Her reporting career has focused heavily on municipal issues.

The council seat became open after former Beaches–East York councillor Brad Bradford, who has represented the ward since 2018, declared his intention to run for mayor. Bradford defeated Jennie Worden in the 2022 election by receiving 54.7 per cent of the vote.

Johnson enters a field that already includes registered candidates James Dann, Tycen Legg, and Adam Smith.
