An Air Canada flight arriving from Los Angeles veered off the runway after landing at Montréal-Trudeau International Airport on Thursday afternoon, prompting the airport to temporarily close its north runway while passengers were safely evacuated.

Flight AC774, operated by a Boeing 737 Max, left the taxiway shortly after 4 p.m. The airline reported no injuries. According to Air Canada, 156 passengers and six crew members were deplaned and transported to the terminal via buses.

Aéroports de Montréal activated its emergency coordination centre in response to the incident. The north runway closure resulted in operational delays at the airport. Air Canada said the company will perform a detailed investigation to determine the cause of the incident, and plans are being made to tow the aircraft to a hangar for full inspection.

The Transportation Safety Board of Canada has dispatched investigators to examine the incident. Airport officials advised travellers to check the status of their flights before heading to Trudeau.
