Two paramedics and patient die after ambulance crashes into transport truck in New Brunswick

Two paramedics and a patient died in a collision between an ambulance and a transport truck near the Confederation Bridge in New Brunswick on Tuesday, July 7.
RCMP say the victims — a 56-year-old male ambulance driver, a 77-year-old woman, and a 23-year-old woman — all died at the scene near Melrose, N.B., on Route 16. All three were from Prince Edward Island.
Health PEI confirmed that the two paramedics worked for the Island's health agency. The ambulance was traveling westbound when it collided head-on with the transport truck. The truck's driver was transported to hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
RCMP say the cause of the collision is under investigation.
