Some Canadians will see bigger government benefit payments starting Friday, July 10, as the Canada Revenue Agency adjusts income-tested benefits to keep pace with inflation.

The indexation increase this year is 2%, lower than the 2.7% hike in 2025. The CRA adjusts maximum benefits and income thresholds annually based on the Consumer Price Index.

For the Advanced Canada Workers Benefit, single individuals with no children will receive a maximum of $1,665 in 2026, up $32 from $1,633 in 2025. Families will get a maximum of $2,869, up $56 from $2,813. The disability supplement increases by $17, from $843 to $860.

Ontario Trillium Benefit recipients will also see increases across multiple credits. The Ontario Energy and Property Tax Credit rises from $1,283 to $1,307 for those aged 18 to 64, and from $1,461 to $1,488 for those 65 and older. The Ontario Sales Tax Credit goes from $371 to $378, with eligible spouses and dependent children under 19 also qualifying for up to $378 each.

The Northern Ontario Energy Credit increases from $185 to $189 for single recipients, and from $285 to $290 for families.
