Emergency crews arrived to chaos on Peigan Trail and 26 Street SE in southeast Calgary Tuesday morning around 7:20 a.m., where a Transit bus had been knocked over after a collision with what appears to be a semi-truck.

Up to six people were injured in the incident, though EMS reports none sustained life-threatening injuries. The exact cause remains unclear, though witness posts on Reddit suggest a semi-truck struck the bus, ultimately toppling it onto its side. The scene showed the bus compromised but relatively intact, with the collision isolated to that intersection.

Police closed roads in the area while emergency responders worked the scene. This kind of incident—heavy vehicle colliding with transit—is rare but catastrophic when it happens, and the fact that no fatalities occurred is significant given the forces involved.

For Toronto readers, it's a reminder of transit system vulnerability. While our TTC buses are heavier and streets are generally more controlled, collisions between large vehicles and transit remain one of transit's ongoing safety concerns.
